Bitcoin-Gold Ratio Drops to 12-Week Low

Bitcoin-Gold Ratio Drops to 12-Week Low

Beginner
2025-02-06 | 5m
The Bitcoin-Gold ratio has dropped to its lowest level since November 14, 2024, reflecting gold’s strength as a safe-haven asset. Gold prices have surged nearly 10% this year, reaching a record $2,877 per ounce, driven by escalating trade tensions. This has led to a rise in physical gold deliveries, with JPMorgan set to transfer $4 billion worth of bullion to New York.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin has struggled to gain upward momentum. The BTC-Gold ratio has fallen 15.4% from its December peak of over 40, now sitting at 34. Although U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs have seen $4 billion in inflows, these investments are largely driven by arbitrage strategies rather than long-term accumulation, limiting BTC’s price impact. Traders engaging in spot or futures selling to offset ETF purchases have further dampened Bitcoin’s performance.
Overall, gold’s strong demand and geopolitical uncertainties continue to reinforce its status as a stable asset, while Bitcoin is partly influenced by speculative trading and ETF market dynamics.
