- R25 launches rcUSD+, a yield-bearing stablecoin on Polygon, bridging DeFi and traditional finance with 1:1 USD peg and low-risk asset returns. - The token differentiates itself by generating income from institutional-grade assets like money market funds, offering DeFi users transparent yield opportunities. - Market growth sees $36B in tokenized RWAs and $300B in stablecoins, but rcUSD+ faces scrutiny over missing audit details and verification gaps. - Competing with USDY and Centrifuge, R25's Ant Financi

R25, a protocol focused on real-world assets (RWA) and stablecoins, has introduced its institutional-grade, yield-generating stablecoin rcUSD+ on Polygon. This move marks a significant collaboration aimed at connecting traditional finance with decentralized finance (DeFi).

to the US dollar and accrues yield from a mix of low-risk investments, including money market funds and structured financial products. By integrating with Polygon, R25 has chosen it as its main EVM blockchain partner, and its established reputation in payments and RWA solutions.

Unlike most stablecoins that do not offer yield, rcUSD+ stands out by providing on-chain returns backed by traditional financial assets. The protocol’s design

directly from conservative, low-risk money market funds—assets commonly used by institutions for capital preservation. Through asset tokenization, R25 and institutional-level oversight, while allowing DeFi participants to tap into yield opportunities from their own wallets.

Sandeep Nailwal, Polygon’s co-founder, highlighted the partnership’s potential to bring “institutional-grade real-world assets” onto the blockchain,

could improve capital efficiency for both DeFi platforms and their users. This initiative fits into Polygon’s larger vision to become a central hub for payments and RWA tokenization, already active on its platform.

The debut of rcUSD+ comes as the RWA and stablecoin sectors experience rapid expansion.

, the tokenized RWA market hit $36.06 billion, up 5.91% from the previous month, while the total value of stablecoins reached $299.76 billion across 202.89 million holders. that yield-generating stablecoins like rcUSD+ could help close the yield disparity between crypto (where 8–11% of assets earn returns) and traditional finance (55–65%), potentially driving adoption as tokenized Treasuries and RWAs become more common.

Nevertheless, the launch has drawn questions regarding transparency.

, audit documentation, and details on how yields are calculated, were missing from the initial release, and R25’s documentation sites were unavailable at the time of reporting. the importance of enhanced on-chain verification to foster confidence in the protocol’s risk management systems.

R25’s foray into the RWA sector puts it in competition with projects like

Finance’s USDY (backed by US Treasuries) and Centrifuge’s private credit RWAs. and a focus on institutional standards, R25 is well-positioned to capture market share, especially as compliance and transparency become top priorities for regulators and investors. the RWA market could reach $2 trillion by 2028. The launch of rcUSD+ by R25 marks a significant milestone in blending DeFi’s flexibility with the reliability of traditional finance. For Polygon users, it offers an efficient way to earn yield; for developers, a new tool for liquidity protocols; and for institutions, a compliant gateway into Web3. The protocol’s future success will depend on closing verification gaps while adhering to international financial standards.
