US SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce Seeks Comments on NSE and ATS Trading of Crypto Assets

On December 17, US SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce issued a statement seeking public comments regarding the trading of crypto assets on National Securities Exchanges (NSE) and Alternative Trading Systems (ATS). The statement focuses on crypto asset securities and the trading and clearing of “security–non-security crypto assets.” Topics include lowering entry barriers, assessing the applicability of Regulation ATS and Regulation NMS, and adjusting Form ATS disclosure and Form ATS-R reporting requirements. Peirce emphasized that the feedback will serve as a policy reference for the SEC’s crypto working group.
