James Howells, who is trying to recover 8000 bitcoins private key hard drives from a landfill in the UK, has had his appeal rejected again. He stated that he will seek final remedy through international human rights laws. "The Royal Court of Appeals has rejected my request. The unfair system in the UK is at play again," said the early bitcoin holder, announcing that the next step will be to appeal to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).
The UK judge believes that the case has "no realistic prospect of success" and there are "no other convincing reasons" to support a hearing. Howells will argue in the ECHR that the UK courts have violated his property rights and right to a fair trial, stating "UK authorities want to cover this up, but I will not let them succeed." It is worth mentioning that these 8000 bitcoins are worth approximately 6.6 billion US dollars at the current price, and were accidentally discarded in a landfill by his former partner in 2013.
