OpenAI's $3 Billion Acquisition of Windsurf Falls Through as the Latter Joins Google
Odaily Planet Daily reported that, according to sources familiar with the matter, Google has reached a licensing agreement with programming startup Windsurf. After the exclusive period of the agreement expires, this will override OpenAI’s $3 billion acquisition proposal for the startup.
Sources indicated that the deal with Google means Windsurf will continue to operate as an independent startup.
An OpenAI spokesperson confirmed to Fortune that the exclusivity period for the $3 billion deal reached between the two companies two months ago has expired. (Bianews)
