Andre Cronje: Fantom has solved the problem of state bloat, and the new technology will significantly reduce storage requirements
On January 9th, Andre Cronje, director of the Fantom Foundation, stated on social media that Fantom has successfully resolved the issue of state bloat in blockchain. This is one of the core milestones since the establishment of the project. Fantom has also introduced a new database technology called Carmen, which adopts flat storage instead of tree or dictionary structures. While maintaining encrypted signatures for world state, it further significantly reduces current activation state bloat.
Note: State bloat refers to the problem where the required storage space keeps increasing over time when processing and storing transaction and smart contract data in blockchain. This leads to increased storage costs and decreased processing efficiency, especially for nodes that need to maintain complete network history.
