NEAR will launch the second phase of sharding testing this week, introducing stateless verification
The NEAR Foundation announced today that the Protocol Working Group will initiate the second phase of sharding testing this week, and it is expected to launch on the NEAR mainnet in May. NEAR stated that the second phase of sharding introduces the most significant changes to the NEAR protocol since its mainnet launch in 2020, with stateless verification being the biggest change. Other network improvements include attempts in memory. Users transitioning to Phase 2 will not experience downtime, and validators do not need to take any special measures.
