Riot Platforms Spends $97.4 Million on Over 30,000 Bitcoin Mining Machines
Bitcoin mining giant Riot Platforms has purchased 31,500 mining machines from MicroBT for $97.4 million, a purchase that will reportedly increase the self-mining arithmetic at the company's Rockdale, Texas facility from 12.4 EH/s to 15.1 EH/s by the end of July. Riot revealed last December that the company had spent 290.5 million for 66,000 miners and said it may choose to buy another 265,000 MicroBT miners on the same terms, which would help increase its hash rate to over 100 EH/s in the long run.
