Arkham: Tesla holds 11,500 BTC, not 9,720 BTC
Contrary to numerous reports, Arkham disclosed on social media that Tesla's balance shown in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) documents is 11,500 BTC, which matches our figures. People commonly misbelieve that since the most recent BTC sale in Q2 2022, Tesla has held 9,720 BTC. This seems to be due to an error when reading the quarterly report where the quantity of BTC was calculated based on book value rather than fair market price. In Tesla's recent filings with the SEC, you can easily see this. As of December 31st, 2023, Tesla's fair market price for its BTC was $487 million; calculated at a fair market price of $42k per day equates to a total of 11,500 BTC.
