Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission: Net fund inflows surged to HK$33.5 billion in the last quarter, and 6 virtual asset trading platforms ap
The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) of Hong Kong released its latest quarterly report today. The financial summary for the quarter ending on December 31, 2023 showed a sharp increase of 179% in net fund inflows of funds registered in Hong Kong, reaching HKD 33.5 billion. As of December 31, 2023, the management assets of the 914 funds registered in Hong Kong increased by 4.9% annually. The number of licensed institutions and registered institutions was 48,091, and the number of license applications received in the previous period increased by 16% annually. Among the 56 company licenses issued by the SFC during the quarter, 88% and 66% of the applications for Category 9 (asset management) and Category 4 (securities advisory) respectively were subject to regulatory oversight. Six virtual asset trading platforms submitted institutional license applications during the quarter.
