Vitalik: Ethereum can resist sudden quantum attacks through "recovery forks."
Mars Financial News: Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin published a short article on the Ethereum research forum (ethresear.ch) titled "How to Rescue User Funds from Sudden Quantum Attacks through Hard Forks."
In the article, Vitalik mentioned that if quantum attacks come earlier than expected and account abstraction has not been fully implemented, Ethereum can also address the issue through a "recovery fork." The proposed changes related to the fork are as follows:
1. Roll back all blocks after a large-scale attack occurs;
2. Disable traditional transaction patterns based on EOA addresses;
3. (If not yet implemented at that time) Add a new transaction type to allow transactions through smart contract wallets (such as some content in RIP-7560);
4. Add new transaction types or opcodes through which users can provide STARK proofs; if the proof is successful, the code of user addresses will switch to newly verified code, and users can then use the new code address as a smart contract wallet.
5. For gas savings considerations due to the large data size of STARK proofs, batch STARK proofs will be supported for multiple transactions of these types simultaneously.
