UK Judge Freezes Craig Wright's Assets to Prevent Him from Evading Costs in Bitcoin Case
A UK judge has issued a worldwide freeze on £6 million of Craig Wright's assets to prevent him from moving them offshore and avoiding costs related to a court case that found he was not the inventor of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. The case was brought by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) and Judge James Mellor ruled that Wright did not author the Bitcoin white paper or initial versions of the software. Wright has a history of defaulting on orders for payment, and the judge found there was a risk of dissipation of assets. COPA's costs amount to around £6.7 million.
