Musk Escalates Legal Battle with OpenAI
According to Golden Finance, Musk has escalated his legal battle with OpenAI, demanding documents from former board member Helen Toner. She was a key figure in last year's OpenAI "palace fight" incident that led to the brief dismissal of OpenAI CEO Altman. A document from the Superior Court of Washington D.C. shows that as one of the earliest investors in OpenAI, Musk is asking Toner to hand over documents and communications related to her departure from the OpenAI board and decisions about removing and reinstating Altman's position. The subpoena requires Toner to submit information before May 21, 2024. This request is related to a lawsuit Musk filed against OpenAI and Altman last month, where he claimed that OpenAI violated its original commitment by forming a multi-billion dollar partnership with Microsoft - its largest investor - which contradicts their initial promise of creating AI for the benefit of all humanity. In response, OpenAI called Musk's claims an attempt at "rewriting history," aimed at promoting his own AI company.
