SBI Holdings and Chiliz to Launch Sports Fan Token Joint Venture in Japan
PANews reported on May 9 that according to The Block, SBI Digital Asset Holdings, the crypto asset division of Japanese securities and banking giant SBI Holdings, announced on Thursday a partnership with sports blockchain provider Chiliz to expand Japan's sports fan token ecosystem. The two parties said in a statement that they plan to establish a joint venture in the country to provide local fans with tokens from popular football clubs such as Manchester City and AC Milan.
The statement said the joint venture aims to provide Japanese fans with token-based sports experiences and rewards, including match-day activations and voting rights for fan-related decisions. According to its website, Chiliz currently has 82 fan tokens and has more than 150 sports partners around the world.
