GPT-5 expected in late 2025 or early 2026
OpenAI CTO Mira Murati recently revealed that GPT-5, the next-generation AI model being developed by the company, is expected to be launched by the end of 2025 or early 2026, and that the new model will have significant improvements in complexity and capabilities. GPT-5, internally codenamed "Gobi" and "Arrakis," is said to be a multimodal model with 52 trillion parameters, compared to about 2 trillion for the previous generation of GPT-4.
