Ten Russian regions ban cryptocurrency mining starting today
On January 1st, it was reported that ten regions in Russia have completely banned cryptocurrency mining, while three other regions have implemented partial bans. The government decree was passed on December 23rd, stating that mining will be completely banned from January 2025 to March 2031. In the other three regions, mining will be partially restricted during each heating season (from November 15th to March 15th of each year before 2031, except for the first year after the ban takes effect on January 1st, 2025).
