Economist: The Earlier Trump Announces Powell’s Successor, the Harder It Will Be for That Person to Take Office

According to a report by Jinse Finance, U.S. economist and policy advisor Douglas Rediker commented on the news that Trump is considering announcing the next Federal Reserve Chair ahead of time, stating that the earlier Trump reveals his preferred candidate, the more likely that person will become a target for criticism and the less likely they are to actually succeed Powell. Since taking office, Trump has repeatedly criticized Powell for being too slow to cut interest rates, referring to him as "Mr. Too Late." (Jin10)
