Putin: Date for New Round of Russia-Ukraine Talks Under Discussion, Open to Talks with the US

According to a report by Jinse Finance, citing CCTV News, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on June 27 local time that Russia and Ukraine are engaged in negotiations to seek a path to reconciliation. The heads of both delegations are consulting on possible dates for a new round of talks. In addition, the draft memorandum on resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine should become a discussion topic for the third round of negotiations. Putin said that Russia is prepared to hand over the bodies of another 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers to Ukraine. The exchange of detained personnel between Russia and Ukraine will continue, creating conditions for substantive negotiations. He also noted that both sides will maintain contact after these actions. Putin expressed openness to engaging and meeting with American figures, including Trump. He acknowledged the sincerity of the U.S. President in mediating the Ukraine crisis and agreed with Trump’s view that such meetings would elevate cooperation to a new level. Putin stated that the prospects for economic cooperation between Russia and the United States are promising, and that American companies are signaling their intention to return to the Russian market.
