Bitcoin Core developer Jon Atack briefly detained in El Salvador after being falsely accused
Foresight News reported that Jon Atack, a long-time Bitcoin Core developer and U.S. citizen, tweeted that he was arrested in El Salvador due to false accusations. During this period, several developers from the Bitcoin ecosystem retweeted in support of Jon Atack. He was released one hour after his arrest.
Jon Atack stated that the false accusation stemmed from a land dispute with a neighbor, and he was arrested on charges of violating the Special Comprehensive Law for a Life Free of Violence for Women. Several key opinion leaders argued that this law is unreasonable, and El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele has also been falsely accused under this legislation.
