Trump: August 1 Is Not a Tariff Extension, Reaching an Agreement Takes Too Long
Odaily Planet Daily News: U.S. President Trump stated, "August 1 is not a (tariff) extension; perhaps it is just a clarification. The tariff deadline has always been August 1. The motivation is to encourage countries to do business in the United States. When it comes to tariffs, we are working to choose a number that is both low and fair. Most tariff rates are lower than those imposed by the U.S. Reaching an agreement takes too much time—it can take years to finalize a deal. We are not being tough." (Jin10)
