Odaily Planet Daily reports that the Wellington High Court in New Zealand is hearing a matricide case involving cryptocurrency investment. The 53-year-old defendant, Julia DeLuney, is accused of murdering her 79-year-old mother, Helen Gregory, on January 24, 2024, and staging the scene as a fall. Prosecutors allege that within the year prior to the incident, DeLuney transferred at least NZD 156,000 (approximately USD 94,000) from her mother's account to a cryptocurrency platform, but only managed to recover NZD 88,000, resulting in a loss of NZD 68,000. The case is still under trial. (The Block)
