Russia Passes Digital Ruble Bill as CBDC Launch Nears
According to a report by Jinse Finance, Russian lawmakers have voted to pass a digital ruble bill that sets out a timeline for the launch of the central bank digital currency (CBDC). Citing Russia’s state news agency TASS, the Duma has approved legislation for the “gradual introduction” of the digital ruble, with implementation scheduled to begin on September 1, 2026.
