U.S. Tariff Revenue Surges to $87.2 Billion in the First Half of the Year
BlockBeats News, July 18 — According to U.S. government data, in the first half of this year, U.S. tariff revenue soared to $87.2 billion. Since the so-called reciprocal tariffs were implemented by the Trump administration in April this year, tariff revenue has risen rapidly. In June alone, tariff revenue reached $26.6 billion, four times the usual level. Analysis by U.S. Customs and Border Protection shows that as of the end of June, the 10% baseline tariff had already generated over $17.7 billion in revenue, while specific tariffs targeting the automotive industry contributed more than $10.7 billion.
Estimates from the Yale University Budget Lab indicate that as of Sunday, the overall average effective tariff rate in the U.S. had reached 20.6%, the highest level since 1910. At the same time, the proportion of tariffs in the total value of U.S. imports is also rising rapidly. The next round of reciprocal tariffs, scheduled to take effect on August 1, is expected to push this figure even higher. (Jin10)
