KB Kookmin Bank of South Korea Applies for USD and JPY Stablecoin Trademarks
According to ChainCatcher, citing the Korea Economic Daily, South Korea's KB Kookmin Bank has applied to the Korean Intellectual Property Office for a total of 27 stablecoin trademarks related to the US dollar and Japanese yen, including "USDKB" and "JPYKB".
The trademark applications are divided into two product categories: Class 9 (software for electronic financial transaction platforms used in stablecoin trading, etc.) and Class 36 (stablecoin financial transaction services, stablecoin electronic transfer services, etc.), totaling 49 trademark applications. Previously, KB Kookmin Bank had also applied for 17 trademarks related to Korean won stablecoins. With these new applications, KB Kookmin Bank has become the first to secure trademark rights for US dollar and Japanese yen stablecoins following its Korean won stablecoin trademarks.
