HSBC: The Federal Reserve Expected to Hold Rates Steady for the Fifth Consecutive Meeting
According to a report by Jinse Finance, HSBC economist Ryan Wang pointed out that the Federal Reserve is likely to keep its policy rate unchanged at this month's meeting, marking the fifth consecutive pause in rate hikes. He noted that policymakers are divided on the near-term policy path ahead of the end-of-month meeting. Since Federal Reserve Governor Waller has already expressed support for a rate cut in July, this rate decision may see one or more officials dissenting. Wang added that Fed Chair Jerome Powell may also face questions regarding the independence of the Federal Reserve.
