Tether and Circle Executives to Meet with CEOs of Major South Korean Banks
According to ChainCatcher, executives from Tether and Circle will meet this week with CEOs of several leading financial groups in South Korea, including Jin Ok-dong, CEO of Shinhan Financial Group, and Ham Young-joo, CEO of Hana Financial Group. The discussions will focus on the potential distribution and use of US dollar stablecoins in South Korea, as well as the issuance of a stablecoin backed by the Korean won.
This meeting comes as South Korea prepares to introduce a legal framework for stablecoins in October this year, with the ruling and opposition parties holding differing views on stablecoin regulation.
