A key highlight of Apple's latest AirPods Pro 3 is the function to interpret incoming audio instantly, but it appears this capability won’t be available in the European Union when the product first launches.
According to Apple’s official iOS 26 feature overview, individuals residing in the EU or using Apple IDs registered within the EU will not have access to live translation. This tool, powered by Apple Intelligence, is also expected on AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2.
This restriction most likely stems from the EU’s strict data privacy regulations, such as the GDPR, the Digital Markets Act (DMA), and the recently implemented EU AI Act.
Last year, Apple postponed the launch of several AI functionalities in the EU because of these regulatory measures, with some features not arriving for EU users until March 2025.
