Many investors aspire to discover a single asset that could significantly alter their financial future. Looking at the past, the most successful crypto investments tend to be those positioned for widespread and sustainable adoption, usually thanks to a strong fundamental driver of growth. That’s why only a small number of digital currencies have created substantial wealth for investors, while the majority—regardless of the buzz or high-profile support—are unlikely to achieve comparable results.

Currently, two distinctly different cryptocurrencies are drawing attention. XRP ( XRP 1.55%), which is central to Ripple’s payment ecosystem, continues to broaden its applications among financial organizations. At the same time, World Liberty Financial ( WLFI ) has introduced USD1, a stablecoin that generates fees, as well as a governance token affiliated with the Trump family brand.

So, which of these offers a better chance for investors to achieve millionaire status?

What makes XRP promising for wealth creation

The case for investing in XRP hinges on its ongoing evolution into a vital infrastructure for global value transfers and blockchain-based asset settlements.

Ripple’s suite of financial solutions is steadily moving toward this goal, and the XRP Ledger (XRPL) now features institutional-oriented upgrades that streamline compliance, encouraging institutions to utilize this network over alternatives like Ethereum for smart contracts. Recent protocol enhancements include authorized trust lines and on-chain identity credentials, allowing issuers to control token holders and embed KYC checks directly within the network. These advancements are crucial because large-scale users desire built-in compliance tools rather than relying on third-party solutions, as would be required with Ethereum or other similar platforms.

If XRP becomes more widely available through mainstream brokers—and that seems likely—investor gains could multiply. There are several ongoing efforts to secure regulatory clearance for launching spot XRP ETFs, with multiple proposals lined up for a decision later this year. Gaining access to retirement and institutional capital could be a powerful catalyst for further price appreciation.

However, XRP is probably not the kind of explosive investment that could easily create new millionaires at this stage.

With a market value close to $180 billion, even a tenfold increase would still demand a substantial upfront investment and considerable patience to reach $1 million or more. Nevertheless, for patient investors who consistently acquire XRP, and with ongoing enhancements and a few major breakthroughs, there is still a slim chance to accumulate significant wealth over time.

Why World Liberty Financial is a poor investment choice

The primary thing to recognize about World Liberty Financial is its affiliation with the Trump family’s ventures in cryptocurrency.

The flagship offering from World Liberty Financial is USD1, a stablecoin backed by fiat currency. The company earns money from interest on reserves and charges fees for minting, redeeming, or using network services. There’s no clear reason why USD1 would outcompete other stablecoins, so broad adoption seems unlikely.

Likewise, expecting meaningful returns from USD1 fees is unrealistic; according to the project’s own disclosures, the WLFI token’s only purpose is to participate in governance, with no economic or company control rights granted to holders. This means any revenue from fees stays with the company, not with outside WLFI investors.

Additionally, the Trump family, their partners, and related entities control the majority of the governance tokens’ supply.

Only roughly 20% of the total number of tokens are available on the market or set aside for future sale; the remainder is retained by insiders. Thus, purchasing this token merely gives you a nominal say in governance, but in practice, you’ll never hold enough votes to overrule the majority, regardless of your investment size.

With no profit participation, no compelling reason for demand beyond speculation, and minimal real influence in governance, World Liberty Financial is essentially a meme coin.

This decision is straightforward

If your goal is to build wealth over time, choose the asset that’s connected to expanding practical application, advancing compliance capabilities, and gaining mainstream accessibility. XRP stands out clearly in these areas, far surpassing WLFI. WLFI does not aim to benefit external investors and is more likely to result in financial losses for most buyers.

For those seeking assets with millionaire-making potential, XRP is a much stronger contender, even though waiting for massive gains may not be realistic.
