Jaguar Land Rover, the luxury automotive manufacturer, will keep its plants closed for an additional week as it deals with the aftermath of a recent cyberattack.
Production at the company’s UK facilities was halted in early September following a cyber incident in which hackers accessed company information. Jaguar Land Rover has not disclosed the specific nature of the compromised data.
On Tuesday, Jaguar Land Rover announced that the production halt would extend through to Wednesday, October 1. However, the company did not guarantee operations would resume on that date, stating only that the extension was intended to provide certainty for the upcoming week as they continue to plan a gradual restart and further investigate the incident.
Francis Robertson-Marriott, a representative for Jaguar Land Rover, which is a subsidiary of Tata Motors in India, declined to provide details to TechCrunch regarding when production might be restored.
The manufacturing sites have now remained closed for three consecutive weeks. This ongoing suspension is also impacting suppliers, some of whom are reportedly worried about potential bankruptcy.
