Bloomberg: Hong Kong SFC CEO Julia Leung is expected to be reappointed for another three years
Foresight News reported, citing Bloomberg, that according to sources, Julia Leung, CEO of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), is expected to be reappointed for another three years. Julia Leung has served as CEO of the SFC since January 1, 2023. During her tenure, she launched the virtual asset trading platform licensing regime and released a virtual asset roadmap, demonstrating a friendly stance towards the digital asset industry and stating that the future of digital assets is vibrant and promising. She also mentioned that the regulatory approach of “same business, same risk, same rules” would be adopted to bring crypto over-the-counter trading and custodians under supervision. A spokesperson for the Hong Kong government responded that it would not comment on personnel appointment speculation, while the SFC stated it would make timely announcements as appropriate.
