XRP whales disappear, leaving behind 1.18 billion tokens in 4 weeks
Over the past four weeks, XRP whales have been gradually exiting the market, and the scale of this trend can now be seen from on-chain data.
According to data shared by Santiment and Ali Martinez, since late November, wallets holding between 1 million and 100 million XRP have sold a total of 1.18 billion XRP. By mid-December, their total XRP holdings had dropped from nearly 4.8 billion XRP to about 3.62 billion XRP.
The supply curve shows a consistent decline at several points. On November 24, the number of stocks held by whales was still at the upper limit of the recent range. By December 1, holdings had dropped significantly. On December 8, the downward trend resumed, and by December 15, data showed that this group had been selling for four consecutive weeks.
When the market fluctuates so rapidly, it usually means that investors are smart in risk control, rather than just being swayed by market pressure.
XRP Price Trend Follows the Same Path
Meanwhile, XRP failed to hold its ground as the price tried to break through the $2.10 to $2.20 range, instead setting lower highs each time. With every attempted rebound, the drop was greater than the previous one, and by mid-December, selling pressure had increased significantly.
The latest round of decline pulled XRP prices down to the $1.88 to $1.90 region, where buyers slowed the pace of the drop but failed to restore the lost structure.
Wallets holding 100 million XRP usually act as a liquidity anchor during market corrections, absorbing supply when retail capital flows weaken. But the continued decrease in XRP holdings is now eliminating this buffer. Unless data shows market stabilization or a rebound in XRP holdings, XRP still faces the risk of further declines if demand growth is not enough to fill the funding gap.
