Sui Foundation names Christian Thompson as its new managing director
Quick Take Sui Foundation, the organization tasked with promoting the Sui blockchain, appointed Christian Thompson as its new managing director.
Sui Foundation has appointed Christian Thompson as its new managing director.
"Mainstream adoption of decentralized technology has never been more obtainable," Sui Foundation Board Member and Real Vision CEO Raoul Pal said in a statement Thursday. "I believe Sui will be the entry point for the next billion crypto users. As managing director of the Sui Foundation, Christian will be able to bring that vision to life."
Thompson previously worked at Mysten Labs and before that Meta, where he was an "early member" — according to a statement — of the tech giant's ill-fated blockchain Diem project. Mysten Labs is the chief developer behind the Sui network and the company's co-founder Evan Cheng also used to work at Meta.
Thompson replaces Greg Siourounis, who served as the Sui Foundation’s managing director since its inception in 2023.
"In less than two years, due to its scalable and accessible design, Sui has grown into a top destination for millions of crypto users," said Thompson. "Now, we face a critical juncture, where billions more users can realize the benefits of web3 ... I look forward to engaging developers, growing the community, and showcasing Sui as the gateway to the world’s digital future."
Sui is a proof-of-stake Layer 1 blockchain meant to be an alternative to rival chains like Ethereum and Solana.
