Both U.S. bipartisan funding proposals fail to pass, government faces deep shutdown deadlock
Jinse Finance reported that on Wednesday, the U.S. Senate once again rejected funding bills proposed separately by the Republican and Democratic parties, failing to end the government shutdown that has lasted for eight days, with no signs of resolution in sight. In a 54-to-45 vote, the Senate failed to advance a Republican-led temporary funding bill that would have provided funding for the government until late November. Another alternative funding bill supported by the Democrats was also rejected by a vote of 47 to 52. Three Democratic senators who had previously supported the Republican bill again sided with the Republicans in Wednesday's vote. Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul once again sided with the Democrats, opposing the Republican proposal. Both of these competing temporary funding measures have failed to pass in the previous five votes.
