Kohler, a company specializing in home products, has introduced a new gadget named Dekoda—a $599 camera that mounts onto your toilet and snaps photos of its contents.

According to CNET, Dekoda examines these photos to deliver insights about your digestive health and hydration levels, and may also identify the presence of blood. The device features a rechargeable battery, USB port, and a fingerprint reader to determine who is using the toilet.

Dekoda can now be pre-ordered, with shipping expected to start on October 21. Beyond the initial hardware cost, users will also need to pay a subscription fee ranging from $70 to $156.

If you have concerns about privacy when installing a camera beneath you, Kohler assures that “Dekoda’s sensors only capture images inside the toilet and nowhere else.” The company also emphasizes that all data is protected with end-to-end encryption.

Kohler isn’t alone in this field—another company, Throne, has also developed a toilet camera, which we’ve previously covered.
