At the start of the week, the US dollar surged against the Canadian dollar, likely influenced by recent military actions in Venezuela and concerns that Canadian exports to the US could decline. However, Alberta’s robust heavy crude oil industry remains strong, suggesting this market reaction may have been exaggerated. In reality, Venezuelan crude oil is unlikely to impact the market immediately, even if it becomes a factor in the future.
Currently, the USD/CAD currency pair is caught between opposing forces. The US dollar is under pressure as the Federal Reserve continues to cut interest rates, creating a challenging environment for traders.
