Zcash development team CEO: Bootstrap has deviated from its mission, forcing the entire development team to resign; a new company will be established to continue maintaining Zcash
According to Odaily, Josh Swihart, CEO of Electric Coin Company (ECC), the development team behind Zcash (ZEC), posted on X: "It has become clear over the past few weeks that the majority of the Bootstrap board (the nonprofit organization behind ECC, which supports Zcash by managing ECC), especially Zaki Manian, Christina Garman, Alan Fairless, and Michelle Lai (ZCAM), have significantly deviated from Zcash's mission. Yesterday, due to ZCAM's presumed dismissal actions, the entire ECC team collectively resigned. In short, our employment terms were unilaterally changed, making it impossible for us to perform our duties effectively and with integrity. We are founding a new company, but we remain the original team with the same mission—to build unstoppable privacy money. The key point is that the Zcash protocol itself is unaffected. This decision is solely to protect the team's work from malicious governance actions—actions that have rendered ECC unable to fulfill its original mission."
Odaily note: In 2020, after most shareholders chose to donate their shares, Zcash development company Electric Coin Company (ECC) began transitioning to the nonprofit Bootstrap structure.
