According to the latest ADP data, private sector employment in the United States increased by 41,000 jobs in December, marking a turnaround from the previous month's decrease. In other developments, President Donald Trump announced that Wall Street firms will be prohibited from purchasing single-family homes.
Stock Market Performance
On Wednesday, U.S. stock markets delivered mixed results. The S&P 500 finished the day lower, weighed down by declines in financial giants like JPMorgan and Blackstone. In contrast, technology stocks such as Nvidia and Alphabet helped push the Nasdaq higher, as investors showed renewed interest in companies linked to artificial intelligence. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.94%, the S&P 500 slipped by 0.34%, while the Nasdaq Composite managed a modest gain of 0.16%. Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar remained largely unchanged.
