According to Odaily, U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent has called on the Federal Reserve to continue cutting interest rates, further pressuring U.S. monetary policymakers. Bessent stated that lower interest rates are "the only missing factor for achieving stronger economic growth, which is why the Federal Reserve should not delay." In her speech, Bessent also said that 2026 will witness the "return" of Trump's "America First agenda." According to CNBC, the Treasury Secretary said that Trump, through last year's tax cut legislation, trade agreements, and deregulation agenda, "laid the foundation for strong economic growth." Bessent has been leading the government's candidate selection process to succeed Powell as chair after his term expires in May.
