UK regulators may open the application process for cryptocurrency licenses as early as September this year
According to Odaily, the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has indicated that it will open the application channel for cryptocurrency licenses in September 2026. It is reported that cryptocurrency companies operating in the UK or marketing to the UK are required to apply for authorization or amend their permissions with the FCA under the Financial Services and Markets Act. The regulator stated that companies missing the approval deadline will enter a transitional period, allowing them to fulfill existing contracts but prohibiting them from launching new regulated cryptocurrency products.
