17th Anniversary of the First "Bitcoin" Tweet: Community Commemorates Hal Finney's Early Contributions
According to Odaily, the widow of the late early bitcoin contributor Hal Finney posted on her X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that 17 years ago today, Hal Finney (@Halfin) published the first tweet mentioning bitcoin: "Running bitcoin", and also announced the launch of the fifth "Running Bitcoin Challenge" event.
Hal Finney was the recipient of the first bitcoin transfer from Satoshi Nakamoto and played a key role in the improvement and operation of the early versions of bitcoin. He passed away due to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
