Former Federal Reserve Chair Yellen: Investigation into Powell Undermines the Fed's Independence
PANews, January 12 – According to CNBC, former Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen said on Monday that the investigation into Jerome Powell undermines the independence of the Federal Reserve. Yellen added that financial markets should pay more attention to this "extremely chilling" situation. Yellen said, "I'm surprised the markets haven't shown a more concerned attitude. In my view, the markets really should be worried." Yellen expressed her distaste for the suggestion that Powell may have committed perjury last year. She stated, "I know Powell very well, and the possibility of him committing perjury is zero. So I really think they're after his seat and want to force him out."
