Netflix enjoyed a remarkable evening at the 2026 Golden Globes, securing seven awards
Streaming Platforms Shine at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards
The 83rd Golden Globe Awards marked a remarkable night for streaming services, with Netflix emerging as the top winner, collecting seven trophies. Apple TV and HBO Max each earned three awards, while Hulu managed to secure one win.
Netflix’s Major Victories
Netflix enjoyed a particularly successful evening, with its acclaimed series “Adolescence” sweeping four categories, including Best Limited Series. The show’s cast also received recognition, with Stephen Graham named Best Actor, Owen Cooper awarded Best Supporting Actor, and Erin Doherty honored as Best Supporting Actress in a miniseries. Additionally, Netflix’s popular title “KPop Demon Hunters” was celebrated as Best Animated Feature and also took home the award for Best Original Song.
Netflix’s Industry Impact
This impressive performance at the Golden Globes comes as Netflix prepares for a significant industry move: the planned acquisition of Warner Bros. The recent awards success underscores Netflix’s growing influence in entertainment and may reassure stakeholders that the company is well-positioned to handle the legacy of a major studio like Warner Bros. These achievements could signal that the upcoming merger may reshape the industry landscape.
Other Streaming Services’ Achievements
- Apple TV took home two awards for “The Studio,” winning Best Television Series (Musical or Comedy) and Best Actor in a TV Series for Seth Rogen. Rhea Seehorn was also recognized as Best Lead Actress in a Television Drama for her role in “Pluribus.”
- HBO celebrated two wins for its medical drama “The Pitt,” including an award for actor Noah Wylie.
- Hulu saw Michelle Williams win Best Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for “Dying For Sex.” However, other Hulu Originals such as “Only Murders in the Building,” “Paradise,” “Chad Powers,” and “The Bear” did not convert their nominations into awards.
- Disney+ received 15 nominations, including for “Andor” and “Elio,” but did not win any awards this year.
New Podcast Category Debuts
This year’s Golden Globes also introduced a new category for podcasts. Amy Poehler was honored as the inaugural winner for “Good Hang with Amy Poehler,” with other nominees including Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” and “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard.”
