Bloomberg previously reported that Apple and Google were close to finalizing this agreement late last year, with Apple expected to pay around $1 billion annually.
On Monday, Alphabet’s stock climbed by up to 1.7%, while Apple’s shares saw a modest increase of less than 1%.
Google’s statement also emphasized that Apple will uphold its privacy commitments by running AI features directly on user devices or through its secure Private Cloud Compute system. The integration of Google’s technology is set to enhance a new version of Siri launching this year. Apple had postponed this update previously due to development challenges, reflecting broader difficulties in rolling out AI capabilities.
Apple, headquartered in Cupertino, California, did not immediately provide a comment when contacted.
