After meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Rubio in Washington on Monday, Wadephul said he hopes the United States will participate in a new NATO mission in the Arctic region to help ensure the security of Greenland. Wadephul said: "NATO is currently beginning to develop concrete plans, which will be discussed with our American partners. We have not yet completed this step today, but all parties are prepared to carry out this work within the NATO framework. Germany will also strive to contribute to this." Wadephul also discussed the ongoing negotiations between the U.S., Europe, and Ukraine with Rubio. Germany has made it clear that it is willing to support a military mission as part of security guarantees.
