Senate Agriculture Committee Postpones Crypto Legislation Markup
Senator John Boozman, a Republican from Arkansas and chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee, announced on Monday that the committee will now review the proposed legislation in the final week of January.
This rescheduling aims to allow more time to secure widespread backing for the bill, as highlighted in the official statement.
Boozman explained, "We need additional time to resolve outstanding issues and build the broad consensus necessary for this legislation. The committee will therefore take up the bill at the end of January."
The markup session was previously set for Thursday, January 15.
He also shared that significant headway had been made over the weekend in discussions with Senator Cory Booker, a Democrat from New Jersey, and his staff.
"My dedication to advancing bipartisan legislation on crypto market structure remains strong. We've had productive conversations and made real progress toward our objectives. I value Senator Booker's leadership and his team's involvement as we navigate these challenging policy matters," Boozman added.
