Ethereum Sets New Record High for Wallet Creation, with 172.9 Million Non-Zero Addresses
BlockBeats News, January 14th, despite ETH's price still being in a sideways consolidation phase, the number of new Ethereum wallets created hit a historical high last week, with network adoption rebounding strongly. An average of 327,000 new Ethereum wallets were created every day over the past week, reaching a record-breaking over 393,000 new wallets on Sunday, the highest single-day record in history. The Fusaka upgrade, scheduled to go live on Ethereum in early December 2025, optimizes on-chain data processing, significantly reducing the cost for Layer 2 networks to submit data to the mainnet, making using Ethereum cheaper and easier, especially for interacting with rollups and dApps.
Meanwhile, Ethereum stablecoin activity has surged, with a record-breaking total stablecoin transfer volume exceeding $80 trillion in Q4 2025, showing Ethereum being used for actual payments and settlements rather than purely speculative purposes. Santiment points out: "Such real financial activity often attracts new participants creating wallets for sending, receiving, or holding stablecoins and other tokens."
