Vitalik: All prerequisites for realizing the original Web3 vision are now in place; it's time to start building a decentralized world
PANews, January 14 – Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated on social media that back in 2014, he envisioned building a decentralized, permissionless application network based on a technology stack. Now, all the conditions to realize the original Web3 vision are in place and will continue to strengthen. It is time to build a decentralized world.
He mentioned that the decentralized messaging protocol Waku now supports applications such as Railway and Status, and that IPFS, as a decentralized file retrieval method, performs strongly, though storage issues still need improvement. Taking Fileverse, a decentralized alternative to Google Docs/Sheets, as an example, he noted its usability has greatly improved. It leverages Ethereum and Gnosis Chain for account management, uses decentralized messaging and storage for document handling, and enables “exit testing” through open source. He criticized the drawbacks of “corporate bloated products” and cited cases to prove the risks are real. Now, decentralized applications like Fileverse are already user-friendly; he often uses it to write and collaborate on documents, a stark contrast to the poor usability of decentralized applications in 2014. He called on builders to join together in embracing the decentralized renaissance.
