Google’s Trends Explore page now features enhanced Gemini functionality
Google Unveils Enhanced Trends Explore Page with Gemini AI Integration
On Wednesday, Google introduced an updated version of its Trends Explore page, now equipped with Gemini AI features that automatically surface and compare trending topics related to user searches. This new experience is currently being made available for desktop users.
For years, the Trends Explore tool has been a go-to resource for journalists, researchers, and content creators, offering insights into search interest by topic, region, and category over time. With the addition of Gemini, much of the manual process of discovering and analyzing trending subjects is now automated, helping users find connections and insights more quickly and efficiently.
Key Features of the Redesigned Explore Page
- A new side panel that instantly highlights and compares relevant trends based on your interests.
- Suggested Gemini prompts to encourage deeper investigation into trending topics.

The refreshed interface now uses unique icons and colors for each search term, making it simpler to match terms with their corresponding lines on the graph. Google has also expanded the number of terms you can compare at once and doubled the amount of rising queries shown for each timeline.
How Gemini AI Enhances Trend Discovery
In a recent blog post, Google demonstrated the new features by analyzing trending dog breeds. The AI can automatically fill the graph with up to eight search terms, such as “golden retriever” or “beagle,” and suggest related topics like “hypoallergenic dog breeds” or “large dog breeds” for further exploration. Users can easily edit terms by hovering over them, and filters for country, time frame, and property allow for a customized view of the data.
This rollout is part of Google’s broader initiative to integrate Gemini AI across its main products. AI-powered features have already been introduced to Search, Gmail, Maps, and Docs, further enhancing user experiences across the Google ecosystem.
