[Estimated Reading Time: 4 mins]

This article provides a complete guide for elite traders participating in Futures Copy Trading on Bitget, including how to apply, manage trades, monitor profit sharing, and understand settlement rules.

What is futures copy trading?

Futures Copy Trading allows you to automatically replicate the trades of experienced futures traders on Bitget. By copying a trader, their positions are mirrored in your account, helping you engage in the futures market even without advanced trading knowledge.

How to become an Elite Trader on Bitget app?

To qualify as an elite trader on Bitget, you must complete account verification (KYC)

1. Open the Bitget App > Go to Trade > Tools > Copy trading

2. Tap Apply as elite trader

Note: To become a Futures elite trader, you must create an elite portfolio under the Futures leaderboard. Only then will your profile be listed as a Futures elite trader and visible to potential copiers.

Once approved:

  • Your profile will be displayed in the elite trader list

  • Copiers can start copying your trades

  • You'll gain access to the Elite Trader Center to manage your activity

1. Open the Bitget App and tap Futures in the bottom menu.

2. Switch to the Futures elite trading tab at the top.

Step 3: Manage and monitor

1. All orders executed in this zone are automatically mirrored by your copiers.

  • Open position protection Enable this to allow only your copiers to view your open positions in real time. If disabled, non-copiers can view your open positions with a 1-hour delay.

  • Minimum copy trading amount Set the minimum amount that users must transfer to start copying your trades. This helps ensure that only serious copiers follow your strategy.

  • Profit share ratio Define the percentage of profits you earn from your copiers. Range: 0%–13%. The latest setting applies only to future settlements and does not affect already settled profits.

  • Copied trade quota (not shown in current screenshot but referenced in Chinese) View limits for each contract trading pair in your portfolio, including:

    • Remaining copyable quota

Copy trading performance metrics

1. Revenue rate

The revenue rate is a time-weighted composite return that accounts for both a trader’s capital inflows/outflows and trading profits or losses. This provides a more accurate reflection of strategy performance over time.

Hourly revenue index (Ri)

  • Formula: Ri = (Ending net value / (Beginning net value + Net transfer)) - 1

  • If Ri < -90%, the system treats the period as invalid. It will only be used as part of the transfer return and will not be included in time-weighted revenue rate (TWR) calculations.

2. Time-weighted revenue rate (TWR)

  • Formula: TWR = (1 + R1) × (1 + R2) × (1 + R3) × ... × (1 + Rn) - 1

  • Only periods where Ri ≥ -90% are included in the TWR calculation. This approach filters out revenue anomalies caused by large capital transfers, highlighting the trader’s true performance.

3. Final revenue rate

  • Formula: Revenue rate = Time-weighted revenue rate + Transfer return

Revenue rate calculation example

Hourly period Beginning net value Net transfer Profit/loss Ending net value Period return Transfer return
1 1000 0 -500 500 -50% /
2 500 0 -480 20 -96% -96%
3 20 1000 300 1320 29.41% /
4 1320 -500 1000 1820 121.95% /
5 1820 0 -1700 120 -93% -93%
6 120 2000 4000 6120 188.68% /

Final revenue rate calculation: ((1 - 0.5) × (1 + 0.2941) × (1 + 1.2195) × (1 + 1.8868) - 1) + (–0.96 – 0.93) = 125.58%

  • TWR is only calculated from periods 1, 3, 4, and 6.

  • Periods 2 and 5 are excluded due to Ri < -90% and contribute only to the transfer return.

Additional metrics

  • Total profit: The combined realized and unrealized profit or loss from the strategy. Updated hourly.

  • Copier's profit: The total realized and unrealized PnL of all copier accounts, including those who have canceled copy trading. Updated hourly.

  • Assets under management (AUM): The estimated total value of assets under the strategy and active copier accounts. Updated hourly.

Settlement schedule and conditions

1. Regular settlement cycle

  • Time: Daily at 00:00 (UTC+8)

  • Eligibility: Your copy trading account must have fully closed all positions to be eligible for that day’s profit-sharing settlement.

  • If any positions remain open, your account will be skipped for that cycle. However, it will be automatically included in the next eligible cycle.

  • A position is considered fully closed when no trades remain open in your copy trading account.

Note: Profit-sharing settlements are processed in batches, so delays may occur. If a trader initiates a new copy trade before all pending settlements are processed, some users may experience failed settlements for that cycle. These unsettled profits will be included in the next cycle, and your final payout will not be affected.

2. Manual settlement triggers

Profit sharing will be settled immediately in the following cases:

  • You manually stop copying a trader.

  • The trader removes you from their copy trading portfolio.

  • The trader closes the entire copy trading project.

Example

The following table shows how profit sharing is calculated over a 7-day period based on daily PnL, total accumulated PnL, and the applicable profit-sharing ratio.

Regular cycle day Daily PnL (USDT) Total PnL (USDT) Settled PnL (USDT) Unsettled PnL (USDT) Profit-sharing ratio Pending settlement amount (USDT)
Day 1 1000 1000 0 1000 10% 100
Day 2 -500 500 1000 0 10% 0
Day 3 2000 2500 1000 1500 12% 180
Day 4 -1000 1500 2500 0 15% 0
Day 5 500 2000 2500 0 12% 0
Day 6 300 2300 2500 0 10% 0
Day 7 500 2800 2500 300 15% 45

Key takeaways:

  • Unsettled PnL = Total PnL – Settled PnL

  • Pending settlement = Unsettled PnL × Profit-sharing ratio

  • Profit sharing only occurs on new profits since the last settlement.

  • Losses or previously settled profits do not affect new settlement amounts.

  • Different days may apply different sharing ratios based on the trader’s settings.
