Avkha Equity Holdings Acquires Dart Transit After Over 90 Years of Family Ownership

Avkha Equity Holdings has purchased Minnesota-based Dart Transit, bringing an end to the Oren family's more than 90-year stewardship of the company.

The acquisition, which took effect on January 1, marks the beginning of a new era for the trucking firm, according to an official announcement.

Included in the transaction are Dart Express and its related subsidiaries. While the financial details remain confidential, Dart Transit—headquartered in Eagan, Minnesota—continues to provide truckload, dedicated, and logistics services throughout North America.

Following the deal, Mike DelBovo, a veteran leader at Dart, will stay on as president of Dart Transit Group. David Oren will also retain his role as president of Dart Express.

Avkha has appointed Tom Witt as the new CEO of Dart Transit Group. Meanwhile, company founder Don Oren has retired as part of the transition in ownership.

Company representatives emphasized that the acquisition will not impact daily operations. Dart will maintain its current name, and there will be no immediate changes affecting drivers, customers, facilities, or the range of services offered.

Established in 1934, Dart Transit has expanded from a single-truck business into a major national carrier, now serving nearly every state in the U.S. According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Dart operates 971 power units and employs about 855 drivers.

San Francisco-based Avkha Equity Holdings sees Dart as a robust foundation for future growth and intends to seek further investments and expansion opportunities within the Dart Transit Group.

Founded in 2022, Avkha manages a diverse portfolio of businesses across transportation, manufacturing, and sectors related to logistics.
